Welcome back to the Heart Hotel! Seven-year-old Louie is an excellent Hotel Manager, but today, a hot, red, and stomping guest has arrived at the front desk. Anger has checked in, and he brought a heavy suitcase packed full of thunderclouds and loud roars!
When things feel unfair in the real world, Louie feels a boiling heat in his chest, his fists clench tight, and he just wants to yell. It can be tempting to scream, throw things, and let the fiery guest wreck the lobby, but Louie remembers the Golden Rule: "Every guest is welcome, every guest gets a room, and nobody stays forever."
Instead of letting Anger smash the furniture, Louie bravely guides him to the sturdy and safe Cool-Down Room. By taking deep dragon breaths, squeezing a soft pillow, and counting down from ten, Louie learns that it is 100% okay to feel mad.
What little managers will learn in this story:
Identification: Recognizing the clenching fists, hot face, and boiling feeling of anger in the body.
Safe Boundaries: Understanding that it is perfectly okay to feel angry, but it is never okay to hurt others or break things.
Regulation Tools: Using physical and grounding strategies (like taking heavy dragon breaths, squeezing a stuffed animal, or walking away for a break) to safely release fiery energy.
Resolution: Discovering that if you give Anger a safe place to cool down, his stormy thunderclouds run out of lightning, and he peacefully checks out!
