Welcome back to the Heart Hotel! Seven-year-old Louie is an excellent Hotel Manager, and today, the lobby is filled with a bright, warm light. A glowing, bouncing, incredibly bubbly guest has just arrived at the front desk. Joy has checked in, and she brought a suitcase full of fizzing energy and confetti!
When Louie has a wonderful day in the real world, he feels a warm, tickly feeling in his tummy, and his feet want to jump. Having Joy in the hotel is amazing, but she can also be a little loud and chaotic! Even with the most fun guests, Louie remembers the Golden Rule:
"Every guest is welcome, every guest gets a room, and nobody stays forever."
Instead of letting Joy bounce completely out of control, Louie guides her to the Sunny Celebration Room. By dancing it out, sharing the happy feeling, and eventually taking a deep breath to settle down, Louie learns how to fully enjoy the moment while keeping his hotel safe and sound.
What little managers will learn in this story:
- Identification: Recognizing the warm, fizzy, and high-energy feeling of joy in the body.
- Celebration: Understanding that it is wonderful to feel happy, proud, and excited!
- Regulation Tools: Using healthy strategies (like doing a happy dance, drawing, or sharing the good news) to express big energy, followed by grounding breaths to help the body return to calm.
- Mindfulness: Discovering that while Joy is a fantastic guest, she eventually checks out too, and that is exactly how the hotel is supposed to work!
