This is Ellie. On the outside, she is a regular girl sitting on an alphabet rug at preschool, holding her favorite drawing. But on the inside, she is the brave Princess of the Kingdom of the Heart!
Today is Parents' Day, and when the teacher asks who wants to go first for Show-and-Tell, everyone looks right at Ellie. Suddenly, the castle grows dark as a massive swarm of jittery, buzzing Purple Flutter-Moths flies down the chimney. This is Anxiety! Because the moths are buzzing wildly inside, Ellie's real body gets a dizzy, swirling tummy, her hands shake, and she starts biting her fingernails. She just wants to hide or run away. But Ellie remembers her Royal Decree:
"A wise Princess cares for all her creatures, but she must keep her castle safe."
Instead of swinging a sword at the swarm, Princess Ellie bravely guides the moths to the bright Crystal Calm Room. By closing her eyes, squeezing her drawing, and taking a big, slow belly-breath, she blows the dizzy moths away like dandelion seeds.
What little leaders will learn in this story:
Identification: Recognizing a dizzy, swirling tummy, shaking hands, and the urge to bite fingernails when Anxiety arrives.
Acceptance: Understanding that it is 100% okay to feel anxious, especially when trying something new or speaking in front of the class.
Regulation Tools: Using calming tools like closing your eyes, taking a slow belly-breath, and blowing the dizzy feeling away.
Adaptability: Discovering that once Anxiety settles down, the buzzing moths turn into beautiful, quiet purple jewels and rest peacefully!
