  • What is the difference between life coaching, therapy or counseling, and consulting?
Differentiating “COACHING” to “CONSULTING”. Consultants give specific advice and directions for clients to follow to solve an issue. Coaches guide their clients in navigating their way toward creating their solutions. Consultants are focused on producing a result or output to address needs. Coaches are focused on the person and their potential to create a result that meets their needs. Consultants are hired to produce certain results or output as part of their service. Coaches are hired to support the client as they work towards achieving their goals and dreams. Differentiating “COACHING” to “THERAPY or COUNSELLING”. Therapists work with clients who require professional help or support to work toward a resolution. Coaches work with clients who want an accountable partner to work through issues or achieve goals with them. Therapists are experts in medical and behavioral sciences and are trained in diagnosis. Coaches are experts in seeing their client’s strengths, and areas that require further development or refinement. Therapists are required to keep their personal feelings and thoughts detached in the process of helping clients. Coaches use their insights and intuition to guide clients to the fulfillment of their goals and dreams. “COACHING” is not a supplement for counseling or therapy. “COACHING CLIENTS” are “well individuals” who have already come to terms with their past and want to focus on working toward their future. They take responsibility for their own lives and exercise personal accountability.
